Ahead of the March 6,2021 slated for Delta local government elections, about 30,000 members of All Progressive Congress Party ( APC) at the weekend dumped Party for the ruling party in the state.
It was gathered that heavy weights of All Progressive Congress ( APC) in the state were among those who moved into People’s Democratic Party ( PDP).
One of the decampees, Sylvester Okonkwo from Illah Community who spoke to our correspondent said” We moved into PDP where we can enjoy the dividends of democracy . We have seen that APC is not serious because it failed Nigerians. We are now PDP members and we shall work for the party in the fourth coming local government elections”.
Speaking to Journalists, Delta North Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party ( PDP) Mr Moses Iduh however enjoined leaders of the party in the state, especially in Ndokwa West Local Government Area to embrace every retunee to the party and give them a sense of belonging and assured them that they will be well accommodated in the party.
While noting that their defection had unsettled APC in the state, especially in Ndokwa West, Iduh disclosed that he was once a decampee but had to return because there was no party like PDP.
