The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, said the Science, Technology and Innovation EXPO expected to hold in Abuja between Monday and Friday this week will greatly assist in commercializing research results and help to diversify the economy from resource and commodity-based to one that is knowledge and innovation driven.
He said, investors will have the rare opportunity to interact with innovators and inventors with a bid to convert research results into products and services.
Dr. Onu disclosed this at a talk show on, Brekete family radio program, at Human Rights Radio FM on Saturday in Abuja.
Dr. Onu invited the public and the youths to use the opportunity of the EXPO to create self-employment and enhance their standards of living.
The Minister further stressed the need for Nigeria to diversify her economy, to avoid incessant volatility in oil prices, adding that the diversification will open many streams of income for the country.
Dr. Onu also promised to assist Nigerians who have shown promises and talents in the field of Science, Technology and Innovation.
Earlier, the host of Brekete family radio talk show, Mr. Ahmed Isah, said his station will assist the Ministry to sensitize Nigerians on the Ministry’s activities.
