High-flying Niger Tornados Wednesday picked their first away point in the 2020/2021 Nigeria National League matchday 6 against Kebbi United in Kebbi
Tornadoes were left to rue their missed chances as the referee sounds the final whistle at the end of a highly charged and entertaining MatchDay5 encounter against Kebbi United decided at the Haliru Abdu Stadium in Birnin Kebbi.
The Coach Bala tutored side arrived the match venue with high hopes of snatching all three points against their equally enterprising host Kebbi United who were still basking in the euphoria of a one all draw away in far away Ilorin against ABS FC last weekend.
The Ikon Allah Boys suppressed the host team for the better part of first half, with purposeful play, but with no goals to show for their effort as Tornadoes attackers were wasteful in front of goal.
On resumption into the second half Coach Bala had other plans as he switched to a more attack minded system with introduction of Jamiu Suleiman who was unlucky as he sustained an injury shortly after coming on for Musa Wakili, the technical bench again opted for another attacker as Mohammed Sani Rabiu was thrown into the fray.
Immediate impact on the 71st minute by (Kawu Big Boy) as Mohammed Sani is popularly called, latches on to the ball after connecting to Lukman Mohammed’s dangerous ball in, to finished past Stanley in goal for Kebbi United.
From then onward it became an end-to-end affair as both teams searches for goal especially the home team whose effort paid off in the 84th minute as Tornadoes goalie Lucky Abdullahi fails to properly pushed the ball out of dangerous area allowing Rufai to snatched an equalizer with a quick lob in.
Positives: first away point for the Ikon Allah Boys to maintain leadership of NNL Group A2
