Women under the auspices of Al-Isan women association in ward 6 of Kaduna South local government area of Kaduna central has indicated their willingness to support Governor Nasir el-Rufai for another term in office and his political adviser Malam Uba Sani for Senate to represent Kaduna central senatorial district come 2019.
According to the women at a function held at the ward to declare their support for both the governor and his political adviser, their choice was borne out of the allegation that the present Senator representing them at the upper chamber, Senator Shehu Sani has failed to keep to the promise of empowering them.
Meanwhile, Senator Sani has described the allegation of the women has baseless and mischievous, saying they are government sponsored.
The Senator who spoke through his Senior Special Adviser(SSA) political and ideology, Suleiman Ahmed “the women are used to being sponsored to pass aspersion on people just like they did during the state quest for $350m as loan.
“ The senator will not be deterred with the women’s action whom we doubt very strongly are not the Al-Isan women association because, we have been in touch with them and have severally assisted and empowered in one form or the other” he stressed.
However, the leader of the women association, Hajia Ladidi Abubakar, said although their association is not a political association but they worked and supported the present government and senator in the last election with promises that their members will be assisted with various skills acquisition and empowerment programs which they have not seen.
“Our association has been in existence for the past 10 years, although we are not a political association but we support politicians during elections so that our association can also be assisted in return.
“ In the 2015 election, we supported Senator Shehu Sani and he promised us several forms of assistance including skills acquisition and empowerment but he has failed to honour his words, hence we have decided to shift our support to Malam Uba Sani to take over from him at the senate.
“We are also declaring our support for the Governor Malam Nasir el-Rufai for another term in office in view of his performance so far in touching our lives” she said.
