From Edwin Olofu, Kano

Politicians and academicians in Kano State have started scheming to replace the state’s estranged Deputy Governor, Prof. Hafiz Abubakar in 2019.
Our reporter learnt on good authority that those who are eyeing Hafiz’s job include two serving Vice Chancellors (one serving in a university in the state, another serving outside the state), two members of Kano state Executive Council, a top academician who has been a Professor for over 15 years and a retired Permanent Secretary from the Federal Civil service.
Peoples Daily further gathered that some of the people eyeing his seat are muting the idea of instigating the State House of Assembly to impeach him before 2019.
A source among senior Government official who doesn’t want his name in print, said the Deputy Governor’s “Misplaced outburst amount to grouse insubordination capable of dividing the government. Which will not be tolerated by every discerning mind”
Continuing: “ from onset we didn’t trust this man, we kept impressing it on Oga that this guy is not loyal, get rid of him but the Governor always insist that he is enjoying the best of relationship with his Deputy.
“You can imagine somebody who has enjoy the support of the Governor. Look at the monies allocated to the Ministry of Education running into billions of Naira under his watch as the Commissioner of Education. But the same man have the temerity to tell the world he has been sidelined” the source frowned.
However, all efforts made to reach Governor Ganduje to speak on the issue proved abortive as he travelled out of the state for official engagement.
Also when contacted on phone, the spoke Man of the Governor Salisu Tanko Yakasai did not pick his calls.
It could be recalled that Prof. Hafiz on Tuesday in Kano said that he was not prepared to contest alongside Governor Ganduje in 2019 governorship election.
