2019: Mariga LG declares support for Niger Gov’s 2nd term bid, says Chairman

The Chairman of Mariga local government in Niger state, Bar. Abdulmalik Sarkin-Daji has reiterated the determination of electorates in his area to support the second bid of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello because of the positive changes recorded in the last three years.
He added that he have leaved to the expectations of his people considering the available resources hence had provided the required dividends of democracy to the electorates and assured to do more.
Sarkin-Daji made the disclosure in Minna while speaking to journalists on his developmental achievements since he assumed office in the last over two years.
He emphasized that Hus administration focused on the areas such as education, health sector, security, water problems, social sector despite the paucity of funds as the most challenged.
The Chairman lamented to have inheritage complete dilapidated structures in almost all sectors of the economy hence the need for paying attention to especially education and health sectors.
Sarkin-Daji noted that his administration identified five (5) Primary Health Care (PHC) with high numbers of patronage and renovated them to standard while reviving existing hard to reach ones.
He said to have gotten the governors nod to employ fifty (50) health worker which was insufficient in the area that have encouraged applicants to go to study health courses in the tertiary institutions at present.
He further told the reporters to awarded scholarship to 3,200 students to study in various higher institutions with 800 candidates in 2016, 1,000 in 2017 and 1,400 in 2018 who got N30,000 for professional courses and N15,000 for others respectively.
He explained that the council took into cognisance SUBEB standard N5.3 million in award of contracts for the construction of its class rooms in collaboration with council works department at N3.5 million excluding VAT.
The council boss had drilled 168 boreholes to alleviate the plight of the people while communities were urged to take ownership of the properties with maintenance unit.
He also procured 100 motorcycles distributed for vigilantees to compliment police in providing security in their over 300 settlements while the policy of N300,000 for any vigilantee that is able to arrest kidnapper enhanced sanity to the council of persistent kidnapping.
