The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Committee on Peace and Reconciliation on Post Primary Election, covering South East zone, will commence meeting with stakeholders of the party in their respective states today (Thursday).
The APC national body had recently constituted the reconciliation committees to resolve the lingering crises that trailed the just concluded primary elections across the six geo-political zones in the country.
The party appointed some governors to head the committees in a bid to bring peace and hamourny in the party, ahead of the upcoming 2019 general elections.
Kano State governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, was appointed to head the committee covering the South East zone.
In a statement signed by the governor, which was issued to newsmen yesterday, Ganduje said his committee would meet all aspirants, all candidates for 2019 elections at all level, all aggrieved persons or groups, if any, and all other major stakeholders of the party in the region.
Giving the breakdown of the tour, Ganduje said the committee would start with Owerri, Imo State on Thursday, November 29th, Umuahia, Abia State on 30th, Awka, Anambra State on 1st December, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, December 2nd, and finally Enugu State on December 2.
He explained that the venue for the interaction, except otherwise, shall be the party secretariat of the individual state, adding that, “if there shall be any changes, all stakeholders in the affected states shall be duly notified.”
“The committee seeks the kindness of all party faithful to prepare their minds for the amicable settlement of all disputes and conflicts, with a view to reaching agreements that will ensure stability of the party and guaranty victory in 2019 general elections.”
