All Progressives Congress aspirants’ Forum has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to reserve at least thirty percent of ministerial and agency appointments for members of the group in his next cabinet.
The group of aspirants in the last general elections, made the demand through a Committee read yesterday by their spokesman, Hon. Etete Inemeh(Akwa Ibom State).
The group pleaded with the administration to consider the sacrifices of its members in the last presidential and other polls and compensate then accordingly, by naming them to ministerial and other positions in the ongoing dispensation.
“We know Mr. President as a man of integrity, honour and of few words who keeps to his words and fulfills every of his promises, therefore our members have no doubt that Mr. President will consider us in his next-level agenda.
“We need the party to recognize our efforts and compensate us accordingly to meliorate our pains, suffereings and reward our hard work. We are requesting for 30% slots of appointments at all levels”, the group stated.
They recalled various roles they played in the last polls, leading to the victory of the party in a majority of constituencies and states.
“The forum played very vital and critical role in the fence mending exercise which is evident in the victory the party recorded across board, even on areas hitherto seen as no-go areas for the party”.
According to the group, “The members took part fully in the election processes ranging from campaigns, monitoring, as agents etc. Members were in every nooks and crannies of their states, carrying out these activities with their personal resources and logistics, as expected and some challenges were faced, especially in the area of security, some members in the course of their duties, had some life threatening encounters from opposition parties”.
They group added that While embarking on their tour, they also took tours to reconcile aggrieved members in all the 774 local governments of the federation.
