2019: Adamawa SDP, Gov Bindow deny adoption of PDP flag bearer as ‘Unity Candidate’

From Umar Dankano, Yola

The chairman of the social Democratic Party (SDP) in Adamawa State, Mr. John
Muva has urged the party members and supporters to disregard a media report
published in one of the national dailies (not Peoples Daily) that the SDP and APC have agreed to present the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate as a ‘Unity Candidate’ for 2019 Governorship election in the state.
Muva made the clarification in a press release issued by the party (SDP) in Yola stressing that what was published or being peddled was only a figment of the wicked imaginations of some mercenaries working for the opposition parties in the state, to divert attention from the rising profile of the party and its governorship candidate, Chief Emmanuel Bello for 2019 governorship election.
Similarly the Special Assistant on media and publicity to Governor Muhammmad Umaru Jibrilla of Adamawa State, Mr. Macauley Hunohashi has denied the adoption story of PDP candidate as unity candidate for Governorship election in the state.
SDP said, emphatically, that there was no truth in such claim and media report insisting that such negotiations had not taken place and therefore be disregarded in its entirety.
“The attention of the SDP in Adamawa State has been drawn to media report credited to one Alhaji Ahmadu Mubi Seriki, a self appointed spokesman of a
non existence coalition of political parties in the state, in which it was claimed that SDP and the APC have declared the candidate of PDP in the state as its unity candidate.
“As chairman of SDP in Adamawa State, I state emphatically that there is no truth in that claim and media report carried by a national daily.
“If anything of that magnitude were to happen, then I would have been part of the meeting and negotiations that will give vent to the alleged declaration. I did not participate in any negotiation with any political party in the state, nor did the SDP.
“The chairman the opposition parties doing this mischievous act are disturbed by the formidable spread of SDP political structures making waves in an unprecedented magnitude in the state and beyond due the existing internal democracy in the party.
“For the avoidance of doubt, SDP has no plan to joining any other party in a joint campaign afor 2019 governorship election in Adamawa.
“Our candidate, Chief Emmanuel Bello, who is still the only candidate to emerge via a free and fair primary process that was devoid of acrimony and violence, has since launched an encompassing ward to ward consultations across the state, ahead of campaigns for the election.
“We are confident that with him as candidate we will win the election in 2019, “ Muva added.
Similarly, Special Assistant on media and publicity to Governor Muhammmad Umaru Jibrilla of Adamawa State, Mr. Macauley Hunohashi in a press statement issued through his WhatsApp handle said the claim was not only funny but embarrassing to the medium that decided to accord glaring false news publicity.
“In as much as we do not want to be drawn in to the foray of mischief makers, we are however compelled to react because of the malicious and misleading undercurrent of the said story.
“We are convinced that this is one of the frantic and futile effort aimed at distracting and blurring the pragmatic vision Senator Jibrilla has for the good people of Adamawa State,” Hunohashi stated.
The media scribe enjoined journalists and media platforms to always verify authenticity of story before going to press to avoid be use by desperate politicians.
