Barely three months to 2019 general elections, Abuja residents have been implored to double effort towards obtaining their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) to ensure they actively participate in the process.
This call was made by FCT Chapter of New Move for Atiku 2019 support group for the PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, New Move for Atiku 2019.
The group also called on its members to mobilize and campaign for Atiku Abubakar from the grass root across the country to ensure his victory in the presidential election.
The group’s state coordinator, Omomoh Carol Pitts, said the only power the people have to effect change in governance during elections and elect candidates of their choice is their PVCs.
While making this call yesterday in Abuja during the formal inauguration of its new executives and jingle launch of the New Move, FCT chapter, the coordinator reiterated the group’s unflinching support for Atiku.
“On this special day, let me establish that Nigeria is in the midst of crisis, our nation is at war, against a far reaching network of violence and hatred.
“Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age. Homes have been lost, jobs shed, businesses shattered.
“For everywhere we look, there is work to be done. The state of our economy calls for action, bold and swiftly, and we will act. The man of the moment, Atiku Abubakar, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces come 2019 has pledged to undertake this task and the New Move in all ramification has vowed to give her unalloyed support.
“Together we will lay a new foundation for growth, and together we will get Nigeria working again,” she stressed.
On his part, National Coordinator, New Move for Atiku 2019, Hon. Eric Stevenson, who inaugurated the new executives of the FCT chapter, urged them to see their appointment as a call to service and work towards the victory of their principal.
Similarly, Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), FCT chapter, Alhaji Ibrahim Biko, who spoke earlier at the event, advised members of the support group to take their mobilization campaigns to the grassroots and involve the FCT natives in the activities of the organisation.
Ibrahim Biko said that is the only way to ensure success of the PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and the party in the 2019 general elections.
