An alliance of 10 opposition political parties in Zamfara state have endorsed Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa (APC, Zamfara Central) to be elected as the Governor of the state on the platform of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) ahead of 2019 elections in the state.
Speaking shortly after the meeting in Gusau, the state capital, the leader of the alliance who also doubles as the state Chairman of the opposition Action Alliance (AA), Bello Aliyu Alkali, said, the decision to endorse the serving Senator followed his record of achievements in terms of delivering dividends of democracy.
“Our meeting had unanimously agreed to facilitate the nomination of Senator Marafa under the umbrella of APC as sole gubernatorial candidate come 2019 considering satisfied level of his struggles at the senate which yielded numerous projects that have direct impact on the people under his constituency”, Alhaji Alkali has stated.
According to the Chairman, the meeting had deliberated on some of the enlisted development projects facilitated by the Senator, comprising youth empowerment through distribution of cars, motorcycles, sewing machines, which has eventually changed the life of many.
“Other projects used in assessing the Senator at the meeting were the provisions of water supply, financial assistance to the destitute, solar powered electricity and scholarships for the teeming youths, constructions of various primary health centres, with free drugs and medical assistance to less privileged across his constituency and the state at large”, the chairman added.
