2018 Hajj: FCT-MPWB screens intending pilgrims Saturday

Intending Pilgrims for
this year’s hajj exercise
from the Federal Capital
Territory (FCT) are to undergo
a compulsory medical screening
by the FCT Muslim Pilgrims
Welfare Board (FCT-MPWB),
starting from this Saturday.
A statement from the Public
Relations Officer of the Board,
Muhammad Lawal Aliyu, said
all intending pilgrims must be
screened at the permanent hajj
camp, Bassan Jiwa near the
Nnmadi Azikwe International
Airport, Abuja before embarking
on the spiritual journey.
The PRO said the exercise
was in line with the directives by
the National Hajj Commission
of Nigeria (NAHCON) to screen
intending pilgrims and attain
their medical record as part of
requirements of attaining Visa
through Saudi Arabian hajj
portal.
He disclosed that intending
pilgrims from Bwari, Kuje and
Abuja Municipal (AMAC) area
councils would be screened on
Saturday 12th May, 2018 while
intending Pilgrims from Abaji,
Kwali and Gwagwalada Area
councils are scheduled to be
screened on Sunday May 13.
According to him, all the
screening exercises would be
carried out at the permanent hajj
camp and directed intending
pilgrims to report to the venue
with their evidence of payment
from early in the morning on the
stipulated dates for the medical screening.
The spokesperson warned
intending pilgrims to participate
in the exercise as failure to
attend may warrant losing of hajj
seat for this year.
He added that the exercise
would enable the board have a
comprehensive medical record
and health status of the intending
pilgrims.
In a related development,
intending Pilgrims from the FCT
have been charged to give their
maximum cooperation toward
success of the exercise.
The Director of the Board,
Malam Muhammad Bashir gave
the charge while addressing
the intending pilgrims during
the first phase of education and
orientation exercise held at the
FCT permanent hajj camp.
Malam Bashir advised them
to pay their balance as soon as
the final hajj fare is released by
the NAHCON and complete all
the registration formalities to
enable them participate in the
exercise.
The Director emphasised
the importance of participating
in all activities lined-up by the
board to achieve successful hajj
exercise this year.
He disclosed that the board
commenced the preparation
in earnest to ensure successful
hajj operation and assured the
board’s rediness to provide the
best services ever in hajj exercise.
Over 2000 pilgrims are
expected to perform hajj through
the FCT this year.
