Niger state Governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu has emerged winner at yesterday’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial primaries, which held at the state PDP secretariat in Minna, the state capital.
Gov. Aliyu defeated Alhaji Adamu Idris Kuta with 281 votes against 86 votes to emerge the party flag bearer for Niger East zone (B) senatorial election in 2015.
Also in the Niger-South senatorial zone (zone A) Senator Zainab Kure returned her PDP ticket, by defeating the immediate state PDP chairman, Alhaji Mahmud Abdulrahman Enagi, with 328 votes against 8 votes.
The result is different in Niger North Senatorial primary (zone c) as Alhaji HaliduAgwara emerged unopposed under the PDP.
In thesame vein, various candidates have emerged for the various Federal Constituencies of Niger state. However, some of the governors’ candidates lost in the primaries, like his former sports commissioner, Alhaji Yusif Garba Tagwai.
Meanwhile, the Niger state Secretary of PDP, Hon. Aminu Yusif has officially announced the results of the just concluded House of Assembly primaries held in the state, which returned 5 LGA’s chairmen unopposed, 7 others returned their tickets, while 8 petitions were received by the appealed panel committee.
Aminu Yusif made this disclosure while briefing newsmen at the party secretariat, saying that the primary election was successful in all the 25 local governments of the state, explaining that some petitions came lately, but was accepted just to ensure fair hearing of every party member in the state.
