From Mohammad Ibrahim, Kaduna
Former Speaker House of Representatives now a governorship candidate under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari said transforming Katsina State is possible as he urged its citizens to unite and vote for his party come 2015 election.
According to him, his party is not afraid of the sitting governor as they prepared to take over the leadership of the state.
Alhaji Masari disclosed this while addressing Katsina and Daurawa indigenes resident in Kaduna at the weekend.
Masari expressed worry over the level of poverty among the people of the state, saying majority of the people in Katsina are hungry because of lack of good leadership in the state.
He said the state is now backward in virtually all aspects of life, saying if elected as the governor of the state he intend to bring back the good image of the state.
“Transforming Katsina is possible but we must elect right leaders to govern us. Presently we know that our educational sector has collapsed where the children of the rich attend different schools from that of the children of poor. Today, most of the leaders don’t send their children to public schools and public hospitals.
“We must change that attitude because we intend to bring sanity into the system. If we are elected our children and that of the poor will attend same public schools and public Hospitals. In fact, we will not appoint anybody into public office who will go against our decision to send his child to public schools and hospitals,” he said,
He added that this change is possible but because bad leaders occupied positions they made it to look as if is not possible.
The governorship aspirants also added tasked the indigenes of the state to learn to hold their leaders accountable for mis-governance as he tasked the people to unite and love each other
“If we truly love Katsina State we must love each other. This is the only way we can forge ahead. We must find a way to empower our youths so as to be self dependants,” he said.
He also called on them to make sure they collected their PVCs to enable them to vote for the right leaders.
