As Governor of Kano State and All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirant, Mallam Rabiu Kwankwaso, declares for 2015 presidency today (Tuesday), an APC chieftain, Mr. Ladipo Johnson, said his chances for the party ticket are very bright in the presidential race, adding that he will bring positive change to Nigeria if voted for in the 2015 presidential election.
Johnson, a South-West coordinator of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso for presidency also called on the party leaders to back the governor for the party’s presidential ticket.
He said the country is in need of a younger brain who will creatively transform the country.
His words: “With the greatest respect as a party that stands for change in this country, it would be very difficult for the party to sell the idea that the change that Nigerians require lies in the faces of wise but older people likes Gen. Mohammadu Buhari and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
“Change like justice must not just be done but must be seen to be done. We cannot bring out members of the old brigade; old wine in new skins and expect the people of Nigeria to buy into our message. We shall not cast them aside because the wisdom and knowledge that Buhari and Atiku have are invaluable. We need to learn from them and from history and not make the same mistakes we’ve made as a country over the years, and thus move the country in the right direction.
“Kwankwaso will be a good presidential candidate for the APC, considering how he has transformed Kano State in the last three years. The infrastructural revolution and other things he has done in his state are a testimony to what Kwankwaso can do in Nigeria if given the chance to govern the country. And that is why we the younger ones are excited that he is declaring for the presidency.”
