A former acting Governor of Adamawa State, James Shuaibu Barka, including hundreds of his followers, have formally defected from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).

This was made known to journalists yesterday during the campaign rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Muhammad Umaru Jibrilla Bindow, which was held at Gangwari Ganye’s square of Ganye Local Government Area in the State.

Receiving the new members into the party, the chairman of the party in the state, Shuaibu Yamusa, assured them of equal treatment with the old members of the party, adding that APC is a place where equity, justice, fairness and togetherness are highly respected.

Responding on behalf of all defectors, the former acting governor of the state, Barka, said PDP as a party is operating with impunity and injustice, saying this is their major reasons for abandoning the party.

“I am not here to contest for anything, but to let the world know that it is in APC that you can see justice, fairness, truth and equal treatment. APC is the only party left for the general masses, while PDP is for political betrayals and tyrants.

“I am now into a new found party of mine which I believe is the party with good manifesto to change the country which the other party messed up”. Barka said.

Meanwhile, the campaign train later paid a courtesy visit on the paramount ruler of the camba chiefdom, Umaru Adamu Sanda, for his royal blessings.

Spokesman of the campaign team, who is also the Deputy Director of Bindow Campaign Organization, Abdulrahaman Abba Jimeta, requested for a royal blessing and permission from the royal father to visit the communities of Ganye chiefdom to plead with all the electorates to vote for APC.

Responding, Sanda cautioned the campaign team to be mature and more polite in their campaign trip to the chiefdom.
