In continuation of the preparations for the 2015 general elections, the Inspector-General of Police, (IGP) Mohammed Abubakar, has again sent another batch of 16,691 Police Officers to undergo intensive training on election protection duties as part of proactive and comprehensive measures by the Force to ensure an orderly, crisis-free and violent-free election ahead of 2015.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer CSP Frank Mbah in Abuja.
Mbah said the course which is concurrently taking place at various Police training institutions nationwide is specially designed to equip the men with new skills in standard operational policing practices, human rights protections, and principles of democratic policing as well as rules of engagement in election security.
He further said the officers will also do their promotion course to boost the morale of the men as this will aid their optimal performance in field operations charging them to imbibe the character of discipline and professional ethics in line with the code of conduct of the Force.
The statement added that the IGP further assured Nigerians that the Nigeria Police will continue to strategically adopt the best approaches in ensuring the security of lives and property as well as protecting the integrity of all elections in the land.
