The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State, Chief Abubakar Gaiya Haruna has warned that there won’t be
automatic tickets for people seeking electives offices, but only those who have performed credibly would be returned.
The PDP chairman disclosed this yesterday during Hon Jagaba Adams Jagaba’s third constituency meeting and sharing of N16 million cash to traders and widows in Kachia local government of Kaduna State, adding that only lawmakers who performed would have re-election opportunity in 2015.
“Our party will allow free and fair primaries. Any candidate the members of our party select to stand for election will be adopted by the party. But we must be careful with the kind of people that we will bring up to stand an election. The likes of Jagaba have performed well and ought to be given the opportunity to re-contest,” Haruna said.
“Any representative that did not perform will not return in 2015. We want credible aspirant to be our candidates in the PDP. Any aspirant that abuse others without an agenda, should be rejected,” Gaiya added.
The PDP chairman said under his leadership, the mentality of the people must change. “The youth must not allow themselves to be used to cause crises. If anyone comes, asking you to burn someone’s house, tell him to lead his children,” Gaiya advised.
He said if people like Jagaba Adams Jagaba who he said has performed well, are given another opportunity, they will have less campaign stress.
In his own remarks, member representing Kagarko/ Kachia federal constituency, Jagaba Adams Jagaba said the third public meeting with his constituency in three years was to account for his stewardship at the National Assembly.
“Since my election, this is the third term am doing it. In less than a year to the end of the legislative year, electioneering campaign will commence and I want you to rate me without bias. It was the PDP that gave me the platform, and I’ve made donation to them. As a legislator, I’ve successfully sponsored five bills, four motions and a petition brought from my constituency, I presented it to the house. Am also here today to publicly share N16 million to local traders and widows so as to boost their trade, anyone that did not get, a bigger one is coming. 2015 is here and I am available and I need your support.
With my experienced, if re-elected again, more will come,” Jagaba said.
