From Yakubu Mustapha, Minna
Niger state governor, Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, has been placed under intense pressure to declare his plan ahead of 2015 general elections even as the turbaned chiefs in Minna Emirate assured him of their support.
Responding to the request, Aliyu said “I have been consulted to run for the Senate, but have not agreed yet. I don’t plan for it but God plans for me, you all know how I emerged in 2007 as well as a member House of Representative during Shagari.”
When requested to elevate his deputy, Hon. Ahmed Musa Ibeto, to succeed him for his loyalty, governor Aliyu stated that “I confirmed him as a very loyal deputy. I have been praying for somebody in the cabinet, who knows what is going on to take over from me. I can not elevate anybody, its God who can elevate somebody. I pray one of the two aspiring candidates to scale through who will give us the best in Niger state.”
He urged people to be security conscious and informed security agencies at appropriate time before it could get out of hands even as he urged them to judge people based on character not by tribe or other sentiment.
Earlier the chairman and leader of the delegation, Chief Pampas Ngozi Wahiwe, said the rate of killing in the country is alarming especially the activity of Boko Haram in the North East as he commended Niger state government for being proactive on security matters.
Pampas stated “ where do you go in 2015, there is no need to hide anything anymore, we are ready to support you at any given time” he said.
