As the primaries of political parties draw closer, delegates of the proposed congress of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in Plateau state, have alleged hoarding of delegates forms by the Plateau state governor, Jonah David Jang.
Members of the party, who were denied access to the delegate forms when they visited the party’s secretariat, alleged that they were told that the forms have been exhausted.
Hon. Emmanuel Gyang Choji from Barkin Ladi local government area and Barr, Bitrus Goshit said, “It is in total disregard to guidelines for a successful conduct of delegate congress of the PDP; the plot has been hatched by Plateau state governor, Jonah David Jang to manipulate the delegate congress scheduled for Saturday, November 1, 2014.
They alleged that Gov Jang, as leaders of the party, has hijacked the sale of the forms and has purchased the forms for his own selected delegates.
With this development, some prospective delegates who came to the party secretariat to purchase the forms were told that they will be given the forms at their various wards during the congress.
They also alleged that Gov Jang has raised a six-man committee comprising of his political appointees to select the names of loyalists that will giving the forms to fill.
The group also alleged that governor Jang ” was desperate to install his stooge to succeed him in 2015 and has resolved to make the process a do-or-die affair, so as to achieve his aim of installing his successor.”
They therefore called on the national leadership of the party to suspend the delegate congress in Plateau state and supervise the sales of the forms directly, so as to allow free access of all stakeholders to the forms, warning that the illegal act should be stopped.
