A governorship aspirant and former Secretary to the Bauchi State government, Alhaji Aminu Hammayo, yesterday hinted that his gubernatorial ambition is beyond the endorsement of the incumbent Governor, Isa Yuguda, noting that he is the anointed aspirant of the people.
Hammayo who spoke after he submitted his nomination and expression of interest forms at the National Secretariat of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja, said “I am the anointed of the people” while reacting to a question over whether he is the anointed candidate of Governor Yuguda.
While noting that he had worked with the Governor for the past 7 years, Hammayo added that he is more desirous of the peoples’ endorsement.
He however noted that he will not leave the party if he failed to win the party governorship ticket at the primaries, stressing “if the party decide otherwise. I am a loyal party member.”
On the security threat posed by Boko Haram in the state, Hammayo said a solid foundation has been laid to contain insurgency in Bauchi State by the incumbent Governor.
He said “we will build on successes that we have had in containing insurgency in the state”, adding that although there were flashes of insurgency in the state, they have been able to reduce the potency of the sect in the state.
