The Inspector General of Police, (IGP) Suleiman Abba has assured Nigerian electorates that adequate security measures have been put in place to ensure that electorates, election materials, electoral officers and the entire process are safe and secured.

The IGP stated this yesterday in Abuja at a one day workshop organised by the Nigerian Police Force on “the safety of 2015 general elections in Nigeria”.

Abba also assured Nigerians that 2015 general elections will be one of the most peacefully contested elections witnessed in Nigeria, adding that, the Police will do more to further understand its role and fully beef up with all challenges.

In his key note address, chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega said the Commission is prepared at the moment to conduct the 2015 general election in every part of the country, but is also mindful of the security challenges that come with the process.

He further said the commission will do its best to satisfy the aspirations of Nigerians for free, fair and credible elections to pave way for a deep democracy.
