The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Suleiman Abbah has assured Kaduna residents of safety of lives and properties before, during and after the 2015 general elections. He stated this during a visit to Kaduna state police command yesterday.
The IGP, who addressed the rank and files of the Kaduna state Police Command, said security problems in several states of the Federation would be adequately addressed before the February elections.
The Police boss assured Nigerians that the Police force is fully prepared to ensure adequate security is provided before and during the elections. According to the IGP, “the officers and men of the force have undergone training for the purpose of next year’s general election to ensure that both the voters and the election officials are well
protected He charged officers and men of Kaduna Police command to exhibit the spirit of patriotism and integrity in the discharge of their duties as this will form the basis for their promotion. The IGP said the familiarisation visit to Kaduna command was to help remind the officers and men of the command of the vision and mission of the
Nigeria Police force, and the need for them to change their negative attitude which has dented the image of the force.
He also warned that his administration would not tolerate a situation whereby officers continue to dent the image of the force by compromising the mission and vision guiding the force. He added that any officer found wanting must be prepared to face the
music. Earlier in his speech, the state commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu briefed the IG about the successes recorded so far by his men in the areas of crime prevention and in ensuring peaceful environment.
