The coalition to Save Rivers State Project (CTSRSP) has asked Chief Dumo Lulu Briggs to go ahead and context for the governor of the state.
The group made the call through its national publicity secretary, Mr. John Davidson at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Zonal rally in Benin.
They said that of all the aspirants rooting for the governorship ticket, it is only Chief Dumo Briggs that has all it takes to govern the state and bring better development. They also said that they are ready to canvass for his support in all the nooks and crannies of the state, adding that the Dumo candidacy will soon become all embracing.
The group said its aspirant will surely deliver on the yearnings of the people, considering the vast resources available to the state.
While declaring their commitment to the Goodluck Jonathan second term bid, the group commended the party for organizing the rally, calling on the national leadership not to allow members’ personal interest destroy the party especially in Rivers State.
The coalition berated those urging the present Minister of state, Nyesom Wike to run for governor stressing that Rivers people need a governor that is not of Ikwerre extraction. “What Rivers people expect in 2015 as far as the governorship of the state is concerned is not a governor of Ikwerre extraction. We will not fold our hands and allow such impunity to be foisted on us. As a heterogeneous state, we demand that the various political factors be considered and in this case, the upland and riverine factor which is important for justice and fair play” the statement added.
