By Ali Abare Abubakar

In a bid to woo Umar Mohammed Nasko, Chief of Staff to the Governor of Niger State, to contest the governorship election in 2015, youth groups under the auspices of the ‘Ever Green’ association have purchased the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship nomination form for the aspirant. Coordinator of the group, Architect Abubakar Suleiman Mokwa disclosed this yesterday after purchasing the form in Abuja, saying their decision is informed by a resolve to allow youth take over the reins of leadership in the state. He said it is time to move beyond the axiom youth are leaders of tomorrow, insisting that the time has come when youth must work for their own destiny, stressing that over twenty youth groups have so far contributed to fund the purchase of the nomination form.

“Nasko represent the youth in the cabinet of the Chief Servant and he has made us very proud. He is very hardworking, innovative and prudent with resources, and he has never shied

away from responsibilities. He has proven to many people that the youth are ready to take the mantle of leadership of the state” Mokwa stated. He said Niger State has enjoyed immensely from the administration of the incumbent Governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, who came in 2007 as a youth adding that based on his remarkable achievements, youths and well meaning Nigerlites are poised to ensure a much younger person continue with the good work.

He described Nasko as a good administrator and politician that has requisite experience and love for the people based programmes, adding that Nasko is always ready to sacrifice everything for his people. “Many of our past leaders led this country when they were in their mid-thirties and they performed excellently. Umar Nasko like those leaders have also performed brilliantly in the positions of responsibilities he has so far been saddle with. ‘’He has received tutelage from a technocrat and super administrator, the Chief Servant of Niger State, and we believe he is now very fit to lead us as governor.

We believe that he will build on the foundation of good governance, accountability and transparency and the servant leadership style laid by the Chief Servant.” Suleiman therefore called on all youth organizations in the state to rally round Nasko for the betterment of the youth and development of the state.
