A group, Atiku Abubakar Restore Nigeria, yesterday called on former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, to declare his intention to contest the 2015 Presidential election.
The group, in a statement by its Convener, Mr. Oluwasegun Ola-Jones, in Abuja, said Abubakar should contest on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The statement added that Atiku remains the only hope left for the restoration of human dignity and abolition of poverty in Nigeria.
It stated that his emergence as president would restore hope for the common man and provide jobs for the youths.
The group pledged to start a sit-in campaign at the Atiku Abubakar Centre henceforth to drive home its demand.
It condemned the recent carnage in both Kano and Kaduna where scores of Nigerians lost their lives to the senseless killings by the irrational Boko Haram sect.
It also thanked God for sparing the lives of both Maj-Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd) and Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, who both narrowly escaped the Kano blast.
The group thereafter conveyed their heartfelt sympathy to the families of those who lost their lives and appealed to the insurgents to lay down their arms and embrace peace in the interest of every Nigerian.
It added, “We also felicitate with all our Muslim brothers and sisyers on the occasion of the just concluded Ramadan fasting.
“We pray that the gains of the season will not be lost on all with the belief that every Nigerian continues with the spirit of being a brother’s keeper.”
