The Taraba State government has debunked insinuation making the rounds that acting Governor, Sani Abubakar Danladi has concluded plans to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) to enable him contest the governorship seat of the state in the next election.

The new acting governor has been alleged of plotting to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after the door to contest PDP governorship ticket has been technically shut against him.

Abubakar did not purchase the PDP intent and nomination forms before the deadline for the submission of the forms.

Abubakar was alleged to have met with APC national officials and other stakeholders from Taraba State in a hotel in Abuja to conclude plans on how to get the party ticket.

The meeting was said to be facilitated by leader of the APC in Taraba, Senator Aisha Jummai Alhassan representing Taraba North at the National Assembly.

Abubakar is believed to have secured the support of Senator Aisha to contest the next governorship election.

However a Senior Special Adviser to Governor Danbaba Suntai, on media and publicity,  Sylvanus Giwa, denied the allegation during a press conference in Jalingo yesterday,

Giwa also refuted the speculation that the state House of Assembly is making plans to impeach the acting governor again.

“This is the work of mischief makers who are bent on ensuring that there is no stability in the state, these are mere rumours without bases and they should be regarded as such”, he said.

The Supreme Court had on Friday nullified the October 4, 2012 impeachment of Abubakar, ordering that he should be reinstated as the deputy governor. The state house of assembly directed him to resume as the acting governor on Monday.

Similarly, the Concerned Taraba Tiv Youth Frontier (CTTYF), have called on the state acting Governor, Sani Abubakar Danladi to order for the arrest and prosecution of the ousted acting governor, Garba Umar for war crimes.

The CTTYF, made the request while congratulating the acting governor on his victory at the supreme court , his reinstatement as deputy Governor and confirmation by the state House of assembly as acting governor.

The group in a press statement released by its chairman, Goodman Dan Dahida described Umar’s two years tenure as full of wanton killings, destruction of property with millions of people displaced from their places of abode.

It further noted that Umar’s desperation to govern the state in 2015 emanated the crisis that engulfed the southern and central taraba over the years.

“Our people became scapegoats that must be sacrificed on the desperation of Garba Umar to govern the state in 2015, our people in their thousands are taking refuge in camps within and outside the state, our population became a factor that must be eliminated for him to govern the state in 2015.”

The group restated that return of Sani Abubakar Danladi to the affairs of government of the state was also commendable by the statement, stressing that an end to incessant killings has come to the state.
