…Pledges better transformation

The onetime Minister of Commerce and Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nigerian Investment Promotion Council (NIPC), Engr. Mustafa Bello has declared his intention to contest at the forthcoming 2015 general election as Niger State Governor under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Engr. Bello while speaking yesterday at the formal declaration ceremony held at Hydro Hotel, Farm Centre in Minna said, as a man with knowledge, good exposure and vastly rich working experience at both private and public sectors of the economy, he was rightly positioned to occupy the number one seat of Niger State as Governor.
Bello who is a foundation member of PDP said, “I am not saying I am the best, but I believe I present the state with a variety to make a choice and surely I believe my weight on a scale of quality may outweigh that of all others put together on the other side of the scale.”
He therefore called on the electorates cum followers to endeavour to make the right choice so as not to further impoverish themselves.
“Now that we are presented with the opportunity to make a choice, let us think, reflect, appraise, review and analyse to guide our decision making process to enable us make the right choice so as not to put our lives and our future at stake. Let us join hands together to support and choose Engr. Mustafa Bello as our next Governor in 2015 to position the state on the right path,” he said.
He said he was moved by the zeal to offer selfless service to the people of the state.
“This is therefore a statement of notice to the good people of our dear state, Niger state, of my decision to seek to render, once again, selfless service to our dear state and more importantly, the citizens of the state.”
According to him, “Niger state is endowed with human and natural resources which if properly harnessed would move the state to a higher level, adding, that as the largest state in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, with huge potentials to drive and lead the state’s economic development, we have all it takes to position the state on super highway of rapid and sustainable growth and development.”
He gave his 5-key agenda to include: Social Security, Local Government and Rural Development; Agriculture; Knowledge Sector and Human Capital Development; Development of Critical Soft and Hard Infrastructures; and Economy.
Bello, who returned 10 years after he contested and lost, expressed confidence that everything would be well if the process is not abused.
