From Gambo Ahmed, Lafia
Association of chairmanship aspirants I. Nasarawa state yesterday endorsed the state governor, Alhaji Tanko Al-makura, to run for the second term in 2015.
Leader of the association, Homourable Musa Abdullahi Akwe, on behalf of the association made the declaration on a courtesy visit on the Nasarawa State SUBEB chairman, Mallam Abdulkarim Mohammed Abdullahi, at the board office in Lafia.
He said “we came to express our profound commendation to the state government in collaboration with SUBEB over the laudable achievements so far recorded through the provision of infrastructures across the state”.
“I want to make it a clear statement without contradiction or favour that I am an indigene of Nasarawa State from Doma LGC where the immediate past governor (Aliyu Akwe Doma) come from. We were alive when Nasarawa State was created. So many military administrators and civilian governors governed the state but, to be candid, there was nothing to show”
“But today you can feel it, touch it, and you must see it on ground in this present administration of Almakura, because if you go to the various local government and development areas in the state, road construction, electrification, water and hospital projects are ongoing”.
As according to him, “we contested in the last local government election in the state but voluntarily stepped down without any one or the governor asking us to do so in order to create a clean enabling environment for our party APC to succeed for the interest of the state at large.” He added that Almakura, with his wisdom in return appointed them as special assistants. He said this gesture alone motivated them to call for his re-election in 2015.
He continued “as special assistants to the governor, we feel that we cannot be sitting down in our offices but we have decided to rise up and work as grassroots mobilizers for the governor in 2015”.
Musa further maintained that the association was set on ground to work assiduously in all the nooks and crannies of the state as grassroots mobilizers to ensure that Almakura succeed in 2015 in order to salvage the state from its social shackles.
Responding, the Nasarawa State SUBEB chairman commended them for the maturity displayed during the recent local government poll which saw the success of the party (APC) in the state.
“You really played a significant role which brought success and that is democracy”.
Abdulkarim further urged them to create an enabling environment in their various respective local governments and development areas by proving their performances practically for the success of the party and not as scavengers or liars to government.
