Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rep Sulaiman Abulrahman Kawau Sumaila, has  said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) remain the best option for Nigerians, even as he reiterated the call on the leaders of the party to ensure justice and fairness in the party’s primaries.

Rep Kawu made the call over the weekend while addressing thousands of his supporters in Kano during the opening of his gubernatorial campaign office in Dala local government area of the state for Central Senatorial District.

Kawu said he will continue to call for a level playing field for all aspirants to ensure free and fair primary election in the party.

“Those who think I will leave APC, the party we helped to build, because of fear or intimidation should have a rethink. We will remain in the APC because we believe it is the party that was built on the principles of fairness and justice for all.

“This gathering has shown that the people of Kano State are surely behind us. I want to assure the people of Kano State with your support, we will not leave APC for whatever reasons and we would make life better for all our people. All we want is a level playing field for a good democratic process.

“Our leaders must ensure that democratic tenets are not only tenable in the party but are also followed to the letter. Our coming together to form the APC was for the sustenance of our democracy. We should therefore not allow our efforts to go in vain. We made a lot of sacrifice to see that APC is what is it today, and we’ll continue to work for the interest of the party and the people.

“I call on the people of Kano State to disregard rumors making the round that we are out to destroy the party,  that is not true, we are only here to soliciting your support to provide the dividends of democracy for all, and we believe that the APC is the right party,” he said.
