From Akilani Abdullah and Alice Ajakaye, Lagos

Following the clamour by Igbos in Lagos State, for representation in the state political and economic activities, another indigene of Imo State, Mr Jude Emeka Idemogu has declared his intention to run for the House of Representatives under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Mr Idemogu unveiled his political ambition at a press conference recently in Lagos, adding that he choose to run for Oshodi-Isolo constituency because of the deplorable state of the community.

It would be recalled that Idemogu was the chairman of Jonathan’s 2007 Neighbour to Neighbour campaign, Ilamoshe Zone, who was regarded as a detribalized. He was also with the hope that Nigerian politics have grown above ethnics and gender. He implored his fellow card caring members to rally round him as he stands on an advantage as a resident of the community for up to 30 years.

In his words “I am aspiring for House of Representatives for Oshodi-Isolo constituency because of the state of apology the area is. The roads are bad, epileptic power supply; there is no single pipe borne water in the area. It is a third world community.

“There was a time I privately had to grade my street, Kudirat Street. I would have done more if I have the medium. And now if the people give me the mandate, I will do better, because I have lived with them for more than 30 years.

“PDP has the chance to win Lagos if they will empower their best candidate. We need to feast on the weak point of the opposition. So far, the ruling party has trampled on the civil rights of other ethnic groups especially the Igbos. And that’s where our party needs to operate from.”

He also added that the Igbo deserve a place in the political sphere of the state, referring to them as community builders which contribute up to 51 percent of residents of the state.
