2014 kaduna international polo tournament—Yero assures of security

Ahead of the 2014 Kaduna International Polo Tournament which kicks off in two weeks time, Kaduna state Governor Mukhtar Yero of has assured the polo club of adequate security for the duration of the annual tourney.

Speaking during the cheque presentation on Saturday night at the Ahmadu Yakubu Polo ground Murtala Square Kaduna, Governor Yero who was represented by the Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Hon Bashir Zuberu said the state government would render all necessary assistance required to make the tournament a success.

“Governor Yero is a member of Kaduna Polo Club and he is committed to ensure that the tournament is well organised and Kaduna state government would ensure maximum security for the people that would attend the tournament. Governor Yero would be present on the opening and closing ceremony of the tourney. We would contribute more than the major sponsors to ensure that this is the best edition of the tournament.”

President Kaduna Polo Club, Alhaji Shehu Muazu expressed appreciation to the Kaduna state government for approving a second polo ground for the club and for building a stable for the club.

Tournament Manager, Alhaji Ibrahim Abba said the 2014 tournament will be used to commemorate Nigeria’s centenary celebration adding that it would be exciting and interesting with polo players expected from within and outside the country. He said the prestigious high goals Georgian Cup will be the main attraction.

Polo Captain, Mohammed Baba Kyari said the 2014 tourney would also serve charity purposes as less privileged children from Jamiyar Matan Arewa and Adonai orphanages would be brought to the club to render charity assistance to them.
