Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. mukhtar Ramalan Yero has appointed an emergency ad-hoc committee on disbursement of assistance to victims of the 2011 post presidential election violence in the state.
A statement signed by the Director General, Media and Publicity to the Governor, Mallam Ahmed Maiyaki, stated that the committee is assigned with responsibility of distributing assistance to victims of the 2011 post presidential election violence in the state with particular reference to properties destroyed.
The committee is chaired by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet and Security Affairs with eighteen other members.
The Committee comprised of top government officials and representatives of religious organizations and professional unions.
Among the members are; the Chairman of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam, Kaduna State Chapter, Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, Kaduna State Chapter, Chairman Nigerian Union of Journalists, Chairman Trade Union Congress and Chairman Nigeria Labour Congress.
It would be recalled that the federal government had released the sum of three billion naira (N3 billion) to Kaduna state government for disbursement to victims of the 2011 post presidential violence.
The state government had earlier in January 2013 disbursed the sum of four hundred and ten million naira (N410 million) to the victims.
The committee has three (3) weeks within which to complete its assignment.
