Over 20 person have so far been arrested by the Federal Anti- Robbery Squad from January till date.

This much was revealed by Mr Chris Ezike, a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of the Unit while briefing newsmen on the successes recorded by FARS. The occasion was also used to decorate some officers recently promoted by the Inspector-General of police to their new ranks.

However, the Police top brass revealed that 17 out of the suspects, including four women were paraded for allegedly diverting goods, armed robbery and car theft noting that nine of the suspects were involved in goods diversion, which includes 1,530 generating plants valued at about N13.2 million, toys, children shoes and clothes.

Speaking further, he said that the unit got a tip off that a truck loaded with generating plants had been diverted and based on that report his men swung into action and arrested four of the suspects and 1,501 generating plants recovered from them .

Ezike noted that the women arrested were those who bought the diverted goods from some of the suspects, revealing that Cartons of kiddies’ shoes, bags, and female wears were among items recovered from them.
