15 traders die in Kebbi auto crash

Tragedy struck yesterday in Kebbi State as fifteen traders from four different villages in Maiyama Local Government Area of the State died in an auto crash on their way to Lagos State.
Our correspondent gathered that the traders, who are indigenes of Andare, Katenga,Maiyama and one unknown village were heading to Ibadan and Lagos State to sell their cows for their respective customers before the unfortunate accident.
It was also gathered that, the truck which conveyed them with about 20 cows lost control along Maiyama -Koko road, veered off the road before it tumbled over into the bush.
An eye witness, Mallam Garba Maiyama told newsmen yesterday that fifteen traders died in the accident and they have been taken to their respective villages for burier because they are Muslims.
“The most unfortunate part of the incident is that, a family in one village has about three to five victims. We don’t really know the main cause of the accident for now,” he explained.
Also confirming the incident, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Abubakar Muazu Dakingar said that, the governor paid a condolence visit to the families of deceased while praying for their souls.
When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO), Kebbi State Police Command,DSP Danjuma Possible told newsmen that the incident have not been reported officially.
