The Plateau state chapter of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), said it had lost 717 cattle and a 12 years old herds boy, Saminu Ahmadu over the weekend around axes of Langtang north and kanke local government area of Plateau State..
The Plateau state chairman of the association, Alhaji Haruna Boro Hussaini who spoke to news men yesterday in Jos, said 708 cattle were rustled into Langtang north and were not yet recovered, adding that nine cattle and a 12 year old were shot to dead.
He explained that the herdsmen were migrating in groups from Bauchi to Nasarawa state when they suddenly were attacked, stressing that they were trekking on the grazing rout between Kanke to Langtang north. He added that the other herdsmen whom they were moving together were able to escape when they heard the gun shots.
He said “Imagine what it means to lose over 700 cattle; don’t Fulani people have rights to live or move through Plateau state? We are calling on the community leaders in Langtang north to ensure that those cattle are immediately recovered”.
The STF Media and Information Officer, Captain Ikedichi Iweha said the STF has not yet received any information on that incident but said the sector command in charge of the area will investigate the issue.
